    Code/PHP usability

    Hi Fellas and Shelas

    I haven't been active here for a quite some time. One thing that keeps me from reading/analysing/helping/posting is the disusability with the way code/php in vB is handled. As much as it is annoying that ppl don't wrap their code into readable lines when asking for help, I can't deal with this (image attached). It is impossible to read code this way. This was one of several usuability issues that helped keep me away from SPF. It would be nice to be able to help ppl by first being able to read their code.

    With all things SPF, and given I've not been around here much, I am sure this has been debated as a usibility issue. But honestly not being able to read ppls code prevents me from reading and replying.

    Cheers

    Big cotton ball ears.

    Use Mike Foster's bookmarklet to expand those posts:

    Code:
    javascript:function _expcodepost(){var f=60,w=700,a,i,e=document.getElementById('posts');if(!e)return;a=e.getElementsByTagName('PRE');if(a.length){w=(a[0].offsetParent.offsetWidth-f);for(i=0;i<a.length;++i){a[i].style.height='auto';a[i].style.width=w+'px';}}a=e.getElementsByTagName('DIV');for(i=0;i<a.length;++i){if(a[i].className=='alt2'){a[i].style.height='auto';a[i].style.width=w+'px';}}}_expcodepost();

    While the only alternative I see is to go back to the old way when it'd stretch the post way over to the right, a decent compromise would be to have that code window stretch to just under the length of the whole post area.
    Instead of only say 400px, have it stretch to 95% or something so it's not such a damned small window.

    Hi stymiee, are you sure that code is correct? I'm getting a JS error when I run it.

    <edit>

    It's OK, I found the error.

    It's a bookmark that is actually a JavaScript that affects the current page in some fashion.
