Acrobat files (.pdf) in web pages

Can browsers 4.0 and 4.5 view pdf files linked to a page?

I've designed a site with a printable map to help users to find us geographically. By clicking a link from the Contacts section, the Acrobat file displays in all platforms and browsers later than v4.7.

Is there a way I can allow v4.5 browsers to see the pdf file?
    Thanks. The site is

Works ok in Netscape Navigator 4.08.

With Opera 5, it prompts me to open it and will display it in a new window, which is what should happen in any browser that doesn't support the Acrobat plug-in.

    Hi!

Yes, this depends whether Acroread is installed an whether you selected "install browser plugins, too" on install.

montse, why don't you offer two links. A pdf one and another called "jpg" that is just a (cheap) screenshot of the first, in case someone really is stuck without pdf support (think of a sloppy cyber cafe for example).

    Regards,
    Atrus.

    Cheers

    Cheers Atrus.
You are right. I can always set up a link to a jpg file.
It's only frustrating that every time I want to try new ways to achieve something, I end up going back to the basic way, the one that has always worked.
    Oh well, keep battling!
    Thanks.

    No, montse,
:-) what you are doing is introducing new quality to your pages without denying visitors using outdated equipment viewing your precious content.
Keep an eye on the bright side ;-)
