    BACKGROUND v. BGCOLOR

I am having a problem. I am working on Redesigning All Nations Church of Durham's website. It is a long way from complete and I am still working but I am having a proble with this. The page is at http://www.livingpages.net/anc/index.htm Links don't work, and not so sure about colors, so patience in that category. However my problem is that the grey cell near the top needs to have an image collagebanner.htm. However, the bgcolor, #cccccc fills the cell. When I delete that value, instead of defaulting to the image, the cell defaults to the body background color #707070. I am confused and very much still on the Dreamweaver learning curve. Help, please.

    Thanks.

i somehow corrupted some files so i cant view source... only thing i can tell you is that with a page 14k without images, you're a sloppy dreamweaver designer =P haha i use dreamweaver too. just try to clean it up some.

now since i cant see your code, there is one [insert synonym for sloppy here] way i can help you. create a table 100% width and whatever the height should be for the grey. put it in the grey cell and change that new table's background. this should cover up whats underneath

p.s. compress that image some more. 30k isnt that good. you should be able to get it down around 10k

Did you fix it yet? I don't see the image.

Do you know the difference between bgcolor and background Sketch?

You CAN have both of them in your code, but one of them won't show up as they are both trying to do the same thing. I don't know the order of precedence though.

If you can try to explain it better I can be more help to you.

hi creole, yes I know the diff between the two and that background will win out in a head to head monster fight with bgcolor.

I have solved the issue on other pages...see links in menu for some of the other pages. I need to address the issue of link color in CSS, so don't mind that...this is a work in progress. I have not addressed the Background issue on the front page though. It was 1:20 AM and I was sleepy. Tonight. :-) Thanks man
