    AI - the movie

hey, anyone see AI? I saw it yesterday. IT's really hard to talk about it without giving a lot away, so go see it!

    It's such a great movie.

Though I didn't think it sucked, it also wasn't all that great. The plot was fairly predictable - even at the end once you got over; well you know.

The technology was well done - but in this day and age we expect that.

There were certainly some very good parts, but I thought that the environmentalism woven through the movie was not necessary or even well done. Pseudo-science at it's best, and not particularly original in thought.

I thought the end sucked. It looked like it might be good in the middle but then it just let you down, at least that's what I thought.

While long, it is definitely worth seeing. However, from my experience, either people liked it or didn't -- really no body in the middle. I'm on the former side of that, hence why I think you should see it. So see it! >=)
Also, (this isn't a spoiler to those of you who haven't seen it), but those lifeforms in the last twenty minutes or so, were super advanced mechas, right? My friend thinks they were aliens, but I'm positive they were super mechas. What do you all think.

Final Fantasy will probably be a good movie, although I think it's a shame that it's more Sci-Fi than Fantasy.

    But that's just my opinion

I never understood why the series was called Final Fantasy, when none of the games have anything to do with each other.

    Anyone have any ideas?

My sister said Fast and Furious was okay though her friend hated it. I loved AI! I didn't think it was predictable at all! I recently saw Moulin Rouge and I took my baby brother to see Atlantis and I thought those two movies were predictable and not that great.

I loved AI and am going again.

The Fast and the Furious is a very good movie -- and not just because of the cars. It actually has a fairly decent story! The cars do help. I believe my favorite was the orange Supra they had at the end, although the green car from the beginning wasn't bad at all, and Johnny Tran's (spelling?) car at RaceWars was very nice. ::momentarily drools:: What do you all think?
Also of note, since we seem to be on the topic of movies, Kiss of the Dragon is very good. Haven't seen a good martial arts movie with a decent story in a while until this one. OMG is Jet Li fast.... But could someone enlighten me as to why the reviews are coming back less than great?

    Wanted to give my take..

I wanted to give my take on some movies mentioned:

Fast and the Furious was blown way out of proportion. My boyfriend has been racing for years with his fixed up car and I have been exposed to drag racing and other racing related events. All of the events that are depicted in this movie was very unrealistic. They don't close down all the streets to race 5 cars at once. They don't synchronize all their phones and all this other nonsense to contact each other about cops coming. They just yell out that the cops are coming and yes, everyone does run towards their cars, etc. etc. There are some accurate things, but MOSTLY everything was blown overboard. Out of 10, I would give this movie a 5 because of the lack of realistic approaches, but since the action was pretty good, I raised it to a 5. Lots of people that aren't exposed to this type of activity found this movie great from what I've heard, but from the other perspective of someone who has seen this and dabbles in it, it "sucked".

AI - I found this movie very moving to me and it was so deep and enigmatic that it really made me enjoy it. It's unlike many movies out there that seem generic, it's a thought-provoking movie that really touched many of my senses that other movies don't seem to capture. I actually would give this movie an 8 out of 10. It was great!

Tomb Raider - Ugh.. This was such a crappy movie. Yes, Lara Croft in the game is depicted as a big chested and very athletic person, but did they have to throw her boobs in our face when watching the movie? There was nothing else in the scenes you can focus on because of how they made the movie revolve around her breasts. Ahh.. The storyline lacked a bit too, but the action and special effects helped the movie a lot. I would give this one a 6 out of 10.

This is a pretty long message, so I'll rap it up there. I'm a movie freak. lol.

    Walk out before the end

I liked the movie up until the ending, which really seemed like something Kubrick would do (Eyes Wide Shut, 2001).

Without giving too much away, about two hours into it will be a scene that looks like it should be the end. Get up and walk out at this point and you'll be better off then sticking around.

AI and the kids in garages... thought this was a bit of a play on what everybody say about microsoft not being original, that they copy what has been successfull slap on a million dollar marketing budget and call it original... ie: ICQ (yer i know AOL own it, but once apon a time they didnt) & MSN Buddy ect ect

Nephthys, The Fast and the Furious centered around rival street gangs -- are we assuming your boyfriend as a member of one of these gangs? I'm not saying it wasn't completely skewed out of proportion, everything in hollywood is, but unless your boyfriend was a gang member D), it wasn't that far away from reality, was it?

I agree with Nephthys on AI and Tomb Raider (haven't seen TFATF). I think the quietness/atmosphere during the alien part was very cool, although I bet that Kubrick would have ended the movie at David's "downfall".
