    htaccess help!!!!

    how come everytime I upload .htaccess to a server the file never shows up on the list?

    my site won't work without it!

    it's not even registering that it is there

    Usually FTP applications are set to hide files like that. Which program are you using to upload? There should be a setting in the preferences to "Show hidden files" or something like that. Don't worry, it's there, it's just not appearing in the list (because most of the time people don't need to see them or download them ... as they'd just mess them up).

    The "." as the first character of a filename, of which ".htaccess" is an example, tells a Unix or Linux server that the file should be hidden.
