Looking foe a text link exchange network

I would like to find a place to automatically exchange text links. Sort of like the old banner networks, but for text links. The only thing is the text links have to be readable by search engines otherwise this does me no good. So, no javascript includes. Does anyone know of such a network?

Your post suggests that you want to use this to get backlinks to your site to help your search ranks. It also suggests you want to join a system where your link is 'rotated' on other websites - not static but only shown to some visitors.

This is what's called "link churn", and is covered in two recent patent filings by Google. The speculation is that links that come and go are not valuable. The link needs to be there a good amount of time and not be constantly replaced by other links for the search engine to consider it a true "vote" in the PR sense of that site to the site it's linking to.

You may want to consider that before really putting time into "automatic" exchanges. You can take a look at http://www.link-vault.com/, which supposedly tries to address this with semi-permanent automatic exchanges, but I've never signed up and tried it. I'm sticking to the real thing.

If you're going to exchange links for SEO reasons, link-vault is the place to be. As far as I know LV is the only large network that supports permanent (SE-friendly) links.

I didn't mean to suggest that I wanted my link rotated. I simply want an easy way to exchange links with webmaster that doesn't involve link farms or javascript.

I did find gotlinks.com. Has anyone tried them? I really want to make sure that I don't get mixed-up with anything that will get me on the bad side of the engines, so if you have used their service please let me know.

A good way I've found uses a php script from the phpjunkyard. I discussed it on this thread.

Google and others read php pages just like regular ones so the link posted there are permanent (as far as SEs).

I visited the Site Sell Value Exchange and I am pretty happy with it. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Could you post the address and list why you liked it so much?

    Thanks,

    Sure. It's http://value-exchange.sitesell.com/

The reason I like it is because you don't have to do much work to get some nice links. Enter your URL, description, and some keywords and the systems find others in the network with sites using similar keywords. They alert you by email when you have matches and you can then send a pre-written email asking for an exchange.

This system avoids any hint of a link farm and you can approve who you are linking to; unlike some services that just put a bunch of random and subpar sites on your links page.
