    CSS Form/ How to float field?

    I created a form sans tables (a first!).
    There is one thing that I can't figure out... that is, how to put two drop-downs next to each other, for instance, Expiration month and year.

    Page: (scroll to bottom)

    Side note: I read that, "It should not normally be necessary to use tabindex. Avoid usage if possible. Only use them if the logical order of the form dictates." Is this accurate?

    Below is the css code pertaining to the form. If you need the rest, I will gladly repost. 'Using XHTML 1.0 Transitional.
    form#register {width: 300px;}
    #register fieldset {
    width: 300px;
    border-top: 1px solid #7E9149;border-left:0px solid #FFFFFF; border-right:0px solid #FFFFFF; border-bottom:0px solid #FFFFFF;
    display: block;
    margin: 0;
    padding:10px 0 0 60px ;
    legend {color: #7E9149 ;}
    #register fieldset label {clear: both; float: left; display: block; width: 200px; }
    #register fieldset select { position: relative; top: -18px; left: 125px; display: block; font-size: 11px; }
    #register fieldset input { position: relative; top: -18px; left: 125px; display: block;}
    #register {border: 0px solid #FFFFFF;margin: 0 0 0 -1em; }
    #register input {position: static; clear: both; float: left;}
    #register label {position: relative;display: inline;width: auto;margin: 0 0 0 100px;}
    #register legend {float: left;}
    #register .text {
    font-size: 11px;
    padding: 0;  margin: 0; line-height:100%;
    font-family: "Lucida Grande", "Lucida Sans", Lucida, Tahoma, Verdana, sans-serif;
    font-size: 11px; color: #333;
    #register .buttons {
     font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
     font-size: 9px;
     background-color: #7E9149 ;
     color: #FFFFFF;
     margin-right: 6px;
