Does Contribute work with css layouts??

    Hi,

I am building a portfolio website for a photographer in a pure css layout and he eventually wants to update the site himself. My concerns are whether this would be possible through using Contribute as i ain't no database coder...but would a gallery style site be Contribute friendly?
Is there another option available to me?

    thank you for any suggestions.

    Janice,

Contribute is able to work with any template created in DW. If you configure your template(s) to allow him to only edit the appropriate areas it should work out fine. I believe that the Macromedia site has quite a bit of information on doing this.

I'm evaluating Contribute at the moment - it does occasionally move CSS layout stuff around a bit in Edit Mode, but not to the extent that it makes it impossible to work with. I think if you keep your CSS layout fairly simple (i.e. not relying heavily on stuff like negative margins and relative positioning) you should be okay.

    Hi, thanks for the response.
i've been looking at contribute and it's actually the updating of thumbnail images that concerns me. i know that i am able to predefine image dimensions and file size, but how will the page automatically generate the css needed to fit the thumbnail images, as they'll be floated???

    cheers

What sort of CSS were you hoping to use? If you want to set specific margins or padding depending on the size of the thumbnail, it obviously won't handle that.

    hi,
well i'd have set dimensions for the thumbs, but they would be displayed in two vertical lines with a float: left; and a 'br clear="left"' after each 2nd thumbnail.
do you know what i mean?

Best advice would be to get a programmer to implement a quick site...
