    Error using CFMail - please this is URGENT

    i am using CFMAIL to email a list of addresses from an Access database - i tried using Query attribute in the CFMAIL tag as well as using CFLOOP around the Mail but in both ways cold fusion is sending out only 2 emails then generates the following error:

    Error Occurred While Processing Request
    Error Diagnostic Information
    unknown exception condition

    TagCFMail::sendMessage

    The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of (CFMAIL), occupying document position (18:3) to (18:116) in the template file C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\work\email\email.cfm.

    Date/Time: 07/01/01 18:20:31
    Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98)
    Remote Address: 127.0.0.1

    the line which produces error is:
    <cfmail from="kash_aziz1@yahoo.co.uk" to=#toemail# subject="test" server="post.demon.co.uk">

    and here is the complete code:

    <cfquery name="getrecs" datasource=#application.db#>
    select sno,cname, cperson1, cemail from ex1 where len(cemail) > 0 order by sno desc
    </cfquery>

    <cfloop query="getrecs" startrow="1" endrow="4">
    <cfset toemail = #cemail#>
    <cfset coname = #cname# & chr(13)>
    <cfset coperson = #cperson1# & chr(13) >

    <cfmail from="kash_aziz1@yahoo.co.uk" to=#toemail# subject="test " server="post.demon.co.uk">

    This is a test message
    </cfmail>
    </cfloop>
    <cfoutput><p>Emails dispatched <p></cfoutput>

    It is not necassary to loop through your database. Cold Fusion will do that for you.

    [code]
    <cfquery name="somequery" datasource="somedatasource">
    Select *
    From sometable
    </cfquery>

    <cfmail query="somequery"
    to = #toField#
    from = "me"
    server = "myserver"
    subject = "somesubject"
    type = "HTML">

    Dear #toField#

    How are you? blah...blah...blah
    <h3>GREAT!</h3>
    </cfmail>
    [code]

    If its successfully sending two emails, the problem maybe in the value of one of the fields.

    Also, I am not familiar with using the Len() function in SQL, although, I don't know what type of database you're using. You may want to try - Where cemail Not Null or Where cemail <> Null

    Are you running the full version of CF or Cold Fusion Express?

    Also, many ISP will block mail that originates from an unrecoganized server, i.e. your home computer.

    Assuming your just running the trial to get to gripes with it maybe you should try www.cfm-resources.com they offer free Cold Fusion 5 hosting.

    Or you could goto www.readyhosting.com that do ASP,PHP and CFM hosting for $100 a year I use them and am quite happy for what I have paid for.

    I'm bit confused by your answer

    Cold Fusion Enterprise is about $6000 and is designed for a clustered server environment. It designed for sites that would traffic 100,000+ visitors a day.

    Cold Fusion Express is the free version and to the best of my knowledge does not support cfmail tags.

    Hi kashaziz,

    I am new to this site and just came across this CF related message. The answer to your question is that this is known bug in CF4.5.1. More information and the fix is located in Allaire's Knowledge Base at the following URL:

    http://www.allaire.com/Handlers/inde...21&Method=Full

    Hope that helped and is not too late. I uncovered the same bug myself...

    Steve thanks for the tip. I have downloaded the patch but they have mentioned about

    " Give CF full access to the C:\CFUSION\MAIL folder and all of the sub-folders

    NOTE: If it was a permissions problem then do not download the SMTP patch. "

    so how can you do this - to give CF full access of that folder?

    kashaziz,

    By default, I *think* that ColdFusion should be able to access that directory if you installed the software as the same account that will run the software. If you have your workstation setup with just one user there should not be an issue. If, for instance, you installed CF using an admin account, but then tried running the server as a user account with fewer rights, there may have been an issue.

    What exactly is a "warez site"? Never heard that term before.
