    hey,

I've noticed that here at sitepoint, there are many high quality articles (like Kevin yank,.....),, do Kevin yank sell his articles to sitepoint or he writes articles just for fun and to help others ???, or is he just a good frien of Sitepoint ?, could i have a bit more details about how the articles arrive here at sitepoint.com ,
    Thanx,

Well Kevin is employed by Sitepoint as the Technical Content Director (or something similar), but as far as I know the others that submit articles that are used don't get paid for them, they just get the usual credit at the bottom of the article.

Considering the number of targetted page views SitePoint gets, a link on their frontpage and a spot in the newsletter seems well worth the effort of providing an article or two to many. Having your name and bio on the front page of sitepoint.com for a few weeks means your name is going out to a LOT of people!

Well, if you believe your can brand your name with a line of text on a mainpage, then yeah, that last thing is valuable, but I don't buy that aspect of it totally.

If I were to write an article, and I knew there was NO chance it would be featured in the Tribune, I probably wouldn't bother. That's the only way I'd get some real, serious exposure from it.

I get more than that for sites that have like 200 users. Bad script (no offence intended), bad writeup? People don't look at that section on that site?

That script is responsible for about 20% of my htis and it's pretty popular. It fades links though, so its just a cool effect, no functionality at all. Maybe that's why it didn't catch on with the Sitepoint crowd.

I don't understand what mean by "People don't look at that section on that site?"

Certain sites have a feature which is very popular with their visitors. Others copy that and it isn't as popular on the new site just cause the visitor profile is different (clicking habits).

Maybe on that site, that feature wasn't as popular with visitors.

However, your success can't just be measured in terms of clicks, it's measured in exposure. How much would you pay to have your name/experience posted to 100K people?
