    Google Sitemaps

Google Sitemaps are a new way to get more of your site crawled. They don't guarantee they will index more of it, but hey they never do!

    Check it out. https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/stats

File sizes are limited to "only" 10Mbs and 50,000 URLs.

Thanks, this feature looks quite useful. I've bookmarked it for tomorrow.

    Google Sitemaps Beta

    https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/login

Google Sitemaps is an experiment in web crawling. Using Sitemaps to inform and direct our crawlers, we hope to expand our coverage of the web and improve the time to inclusion in our index. By placing a Sitemap-formatted file on your webserver, you enable our crawlers to find out what pages are present and which have recently changed, and to crawl your site accordingly......

Looking for a good, pre-existing link harvester to get a list of my thousands of re-written URLs. The sitemap generator tool isn't the best for this scenario. I could piece something together in perl/PHP/python but I am sure there are some decent (and FAST) ones out there already (that won't hang on thousands of URLs).

    Anyone have any suggestions?

It's perfectly easy to submit to Google through their form, but you'll get indexed much more quickly by simply getting a few backlinks from directories, etc. I recently got a site listed within three days of launching it by simply spending a couple of hours submitting my URL to directories.

    Angry

Although useful (for them), I have to say this is doing the crawlers work!

Google should develop a better way of indexing web sites, not request the webmasters to create a XML file containing the sitemap!

What next? We have to XML & UTF-8 encode the content of each page?
How about if we also provide the keywords for "their approval service and keep giving them billions?

How about if they spend their billions and all the engineers wonderful brains actually developing something that works? Or was the brilliance all worn out on powerful almighty pagerank?

    <!--
Take those billions and outsource those "usefull services" to someone that has the time...

I don't know this looks pretty handy. We are a google news source site but sometimes it takes a long time for new stuff to go into their actual search, as opposed to news search. We publish about 1500 articles a day so this will hopefully really help with getting them indexed quickly.

I passed the details to our programmer today, so hopefully have it running by Monday and see if any change in the speed and amount of pages indexed.

vbsitemap version 0.1 for google sitemaps

This php script will generate a url list (in a text file) of a vb forum, that you can feed to the google sitemap creator.

Note: Check my forums here for the newer versions.

My VB forum is not fully indexed, just submitted my sitemap to G! with this lets see what.

I submitted to Google 2 weeks ago. About 36 hours after submission Google crawled my forum. In under 72 hours I was in Google with a very high page rank (8).

Since then my page rank has dropped considerably.

Is there any good XML site map generator that will crawl more than 500 pages? I need to crawl my forum.
