    Outsourcing Tell-A-Friend?

Ok as we all know tell-a-friend is a great way to bring in new members and visitors to content sites.

I am thinking about adding it to my site but then I heard about ways to earn revenue. TAFMaster.com (owned by focalex) is a service that allows you to customize your TAF form while they host it. Catch is that they also allow you to earn revenue by placing ads in the email sent.

Anyone doing this and have anything good to say about it?

I don't get many, don't think that they are used much, & won't do much for traffic or revenue. I hate them. How dare "my friends" give my email address to a third party.

I use opt-media for this myself. Not sure if it helps add to revenue all that much as I hardly check my stats.

I've decided to just use a regular old PHP TAF script.

I read too many stories about how all these companies load the actual TAF email sent to friends with banners to the point where the actual link to your site is hard to spot.

    Hello everyone,

I saw this thread and it makes me blush how many people think of us when they think of Tafs. Thanks everyone, and let me know if anyone have any questions at all.

Also, without giving away too much, Bravenet free tafs are VERY similiar to our tafs

And GeorgeB, I can understand problems you might have with that. We allow you to change the email being sent to not include banners if you would like.

One word of caution against doing it yourself, we have relationships with every big ISP, so whitelisting is all taken care of on our end. That in itself can be difficult, if not impossible to manage individually.

Nonetheless, thanks everyone for thinking of us!
