Ideas for kickstarting a viral campaign?

We have just made an ecard for our band which has the normal "send to friend" feature to help it spread (with a competition incentive) as well as audio previews etc.

We were looking for ideas to get the ball rolling. We only have a small subscriber list for our initial mailout to advertise this ecard. Are there places where we can buy lists of opted in subscribers, music related?

Also been looking at all these "get 1 million hits" schemes out there. Has anyone actually used any of these traffic purchasing services, do they work for somehting like this to help kickstart our campaign?

    Any other ideas welcome

I will be interested to see how you have done it too (I may want to do a similar thing).

Looks like a TrafficSpecials AKA AdBuyTraffic reseller.

I would shy away from purchasing traffic (unless it was from a Pay-Per-Click search engine). It is very, very rarely quality traffic. It is even rarer to get qualified traffic this way.

I mean, you don't want just anyone to visit your site, right? You only want people who like your style of music and who are likely to start spreading the word.

Do you have a myspace site? If not, then visit www.myspace.com. You can view my band's myspace site as an example:

    http://www.myspace.com/barycoiseorchestra

The music is completely and totally improvised from start to finish. Nothing is specified, not even a key, tempo, or anything. The music just happens.

Myspace is great for networking too.

In order to really start a buzz, you need to find people who have a big influence on a LOT of people and get them to endorse you.

It's much easier and more efficient than trying to do it onesy twosy.
