    Agh! Search Engine Optimization explained!

    Ok guys,

We've all seen the many threads and posts all stating 'How do I get my site in the first page of Google? Do's it matter about the relevancy of incoming links? What about the PR of incoming links?' and so forth.

Well I think it's about time we had one thread which new and experienced Webmasters can refer to, to help them gain knowledge about how the search engines work and the proven ways in helping thier site get good positions in Google, Yahoo!, MSN and others.

So, please spend a few moments to post your proven ways of boosting SEO and Page Rank. Please don't post your theroies that will cause a massive debate.

    I'll start the ball rolling.

    • Many pages with unique content with links to all the sections in your site.

    • Clean HTML with headers and images with effective ALT tags.

    • Incoming links from sites that are related to the topic of your site.

    Thanks,
    Richard

You can't prove any of those work. In fact, without access to the search engines code and resources to test it, you cannot prove anything.
GamesLib.com - the slickest, most complete and
easily navigatible flash games site on the web.

There's only two things I do for SEO: Make an accessible site (proper navigation, proper use of h1, h2, h3 tags, proper use of italics and bold, proper use of anchor text, alt attributes, title attributes, etc.), and get inbound links. There's nothing more to it.
