Received an AdSense optimization offer from Google

    Hi,

I received the following letter from Google

    <<<<<<<<<<<<

    Greetings from Google.

We here at Google AdSense work hard to help our publishers optimize the
performance of AdSense on their sites. We regularly reach out to specific
publishers who we feel could achieve better AdSense results to offer
optimization services, which include a personalized review of their sites,
followed up with easy-to-implement suggestions. Our goal is to enhance
their AdSense revenue stream with recommendations that are based on a
recent study involving hundreds of publishers, as well as extensive
analysis of user behavior on www.google.com.

We've reviewed your account and would like to invite you to take advantage
of this optimization service. Our suggestions for you concern the
placement, color scheme, and coverage of Google ads on your pages, as well
as your usage of channels. While we can't guarantee specific results, we
believe these recommendations will improve your performance.

If you'd like to get started with our optimization service, or if you have
any questions about this service, please reply to this email.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Anybody has any experience with this? Is it legit or a hoax/spam? Is it worth going through with it? What to expect?

    Thanks a bunch

    Franklo

I've recieved emails like that from Google, and it wasn't a hoax (although a joke, literatelly optimization tips that you can find anywhere). I one time even got a little book from Google about AdSense optimization.

I think everyone got the little book. Don't remember what I did with it though.

The phone call can actually be useful; you get a fresh pair of eyes to look over things, they can give you the go-ahead to implement new adsense placements that may be questionable and you get access to free-form ads via javascript. Ultimately the idea is that you have someone at Google who you can call and that sure beats waiting for email responses from an unknown person in a support center.

Interesting, is this mail sent out to good performers/customers or just to those who they feel have more potential? Never got the book, but got the radio.

I had a call from them last week and it was actually quite useful - added some new ads to new places and they performed MUCH better than I thought!

It is nice that they are at least showing some customer relations, even if the information isn't all the great.

Recently I got a friendly email from ValueClick about advertisers looking to run campaigns of some kind on my website. I was shocked as it was written by someone personally and had my name in it! That outbeat Google a lot! I even had a small email conversation. That really won me over as ValueClick being friendly, if only their payout was that good.

    I got this from Google:

"If you'd like to be considered for personalized optimization tips, please
feel free to email adsense-support@google.com with "Optimization Request"
in the subject line. We also encourage you to review our tips for
improving the performance of your Google ads at
    http://services.google.com/marketing/links/WW-ET-tips1 ."

But I didn't use this personalized optimization tips service yet.

They emailed me offering the service.... During the phone call they were just like you've done everything we generally tell people to try.... there was mainly just the tip about rotating link colors which I haven't gotten around to testing yet.

I actually got one of these as well on Friday, though they had already looked at the site and had some suggestions for certain pages. Will see what they come up with next week...interesting bit of pro-activity from them I thought.

Always good to get a fresh pair of eyes as someone mentioned earlier.

They send the book out to everyone. Actually, it was very informative for me, as I didn't know a thing about ADsense at the time. Doubled my earnings with their advise.

Well, it's a book, I can't really forward them to you. But Google has an e-version on their site. It's the same thing as their book from what I can tell.

I got the optimisation advice email, too. Their advice could pretty much be summed up as: switch on image banners then replace those fastclick and casale banners/rectangles with google ad units.

Seems risk to replace those fairly well performing CPM ads with untested CPCs. I'm still thinking about it, though.

    Mike
