    How To Report a Scammer?

I just got scammed by a particlar website (actually they have been stringing me along since Dec.) Anyhow, how do I go about reporting them and should I report them to their ISP, there webhost or both? Also, how do I go about finding out who the ISP and/or web host are?

    Thank you for any advice,
    Stephanie

For information on who owns them and hosts them lookup their whois information.

(go to whois.org and type in their domain name)

Once you have that you can do a few things

    1. Register a complaint with their host

    2. If it is a business call their local chamber of commerce or better business bureau and register a complaint

    3. If it is a person or a business file a claim in your local small claims court (assuming its a small claim) They will then be legally obligated to come to you to defend themselves or risk you getting a default judgement.

    Aspen,

I am stumped. I tried putting their domain name into whois.org and nothing came up. How can that be possible. Surely if the domain name works it must registered somewhere. What to do now?

    Thank you maximumedge,

Now what was I doing wrong that I could not get any whois information on them?

Also, what other violation did you spot? I will be sure to contact Verio aobut their practices.

    Again, thanks for your help.

oops. I saw what I did. I was entering the info into the wrong tool. But I still wonder what that other violation was that you were speaking about? Thanks.
