    HTML Application and hover

I've heard a lot of discussion lately about HTML Applications. Everyone always mentions the problem with the "BACK" button messing up the application. In this example I used script as a way to stop that. I know it is not a complete stop but it would get the point across. I was wondering if the CSS attribute hover could be used instead of the script.

How exactly would an annoying pop-up stop users clicking the Back button?
