in the guideline it says no images that are searched on googles etc, how about cliparts that designers bought/taken from clipart stock websites? I have been seeing quite a few of the entries here with some cliparts, but wasn't sure if that is legal or not for the contests here.
maybe a more clear guideline concerning about the usage of clipart for logo is better.
personally i think logos shouldn't contain any type of cliparts, IF the contest holder doesn't mind, at least the designer should state that the graphic is clipart and not original art.

    thanks.

I agree its hard because of the copyright issue as even if you have bought the clipart its not corrtect that you can sell it on - but all are different! if you guys can come up with a more succint way of saying that then I will certainly add to the guideslines

Is this a good place to host a competition for VB skin designs ? As i'm not seeing any here. Or is this really not the place ?

If not wheres the best place to host a competition like this ?

I'll be hosting competitions for logos and signatures etc here anyway but we are really interested in a unique VB skin design ...

Hi leelo, i have seen some skin contests here before, so it is the right place.
However if the admin could separate the forums to logo, template/skin, and others, it would be great, so there would be less confusion.

Now that would be a great idea. this will keep the contests seperate from each other.

I have to agree. Looking deeper into the forum i see some VB contests but it would be nice to have them seperate as sub forums.

Love the design team here though, some truly talented people.

We'll submit a VB contest soon then

This is a great idea. Designers should state whether or not they have used clipart.

Is using stock photos/clipart that you have bought and have permission to use commercially allowed?

It's always stated in clipart/stock photo site TOS.
As Ichiokada said - I've also noticed designers using clipart images in logo design contests. This is against TOS of the site they were buying images from (usually clipart.com), as such images cannot be copyrighted - which makes a logo design not usable for a buyer. What use of a logo that can't be copyrighted?

Yes, I know . What I meant was, what if we get images that we have permission to resell, copyright, etc... Can these images be used in design contests?

    We're going off-topic here...
Just read the terms of use - this should be clearly stated there. But I can bet that You won't be able to copyright the product created using them - so they can't be used in for example logo design.
