Which design do you like best? I would appreciate any replies!

I am designing a website for a company, Staffco Services. They are a PEO (Professional Employer Organization). They wanted a cool, updated look.

I have 2 designs. They are basically the same except for the placement of a few things.

    www.geocities.com/swimm5001/staffco/layout.gif
    www.geocities.com/swimm5001/staffco/layout2.gif
    http://www.geocities.com/swimm5001/s...t2MODIFIED.gif

(for some reason on my comp. when i click the link it doesn't come up, but if i copy and paste the URL into my browser[IE], it works)

    Which one looks better? Thanks!

BTW, it's not exactly how it will look. The links are gonna be rollovers (the box will change to the green color used in STA__CO). Also, it will be aligned to the left so there isn't a white gap. And I will use autostretch on the right hand cells.

I prefer number 1. I would maybe change some things though. Firstly I would make the grey boxes smaller and not have them the same size as the green one. Maybe you could put some of the people above the boxes and align them with the top of the green. As it is there is a big white space in the top right corner, which I do not like. The bottom is very abrupt, it just cuts off. I would think about what to put there.

    Just some suggestions

    Hi,

I agree with Seanf as I prefer number 1 but both the designs apear very similar to the http://www.marchfirst.com/ design (the site may have closed because the company closed).

I am closing this thread and asking that you would repost it under Web site reviews.

The idea is that anyone (and there a lot of individuals) who wants a review will first thoroughly review three others. This way everyone gets a solid review.

Personally I'd go with the second design. Why? Not entirely sure, but with the 'people' graphic within the layout, the design looks more like a whole, and more stable. When placed at the top, I think it looks a bit unorganised.

    geocities can't find #1 so I can't really vote...

However, I like #2 and would like to see a few things changed to maintain a "professional" appeal... The cartoon image, IMHO, needs to go. It isn't professional. Yes, it's friendly but it doesn't fit both requirements.

Also, the text on the right needs to come down in size.

Beyond that, it's really nice, way to go

The reason I used the cartoon picture was because the company had already used the same image in some of their stuff including a packet/folder about their company. I was having trouble fitting it into the page, so I think I might take the space that it was in in #2 and replace it with 2 or 3 photos of working people.

    THanks!

BTW, I changed the URL for #1 in the first post.

    Okay, I took a look at #1 and I much prefer #2.

Anyways, in terms of the modified one it is tonnes better only 2 things (both minor, to clean up the design) I'd change.

1: Your line-spacing needs to increase by about .2 on teh right hand side.

2: Put arrows on the links up top to maintain the consistency as well as teh "we are the way" subtle approach. This is an opinion one though, so take it as a grain of salt. The reason I mention it is the nav looks really dull... Maybe it would be better if when you did teh site the background colour of those cells changed to the green you've been using on the site. That would actually be even better than arrows...

yeah,i think i mentinoed that up top that the links were going to be rollovers.

also, about the spacing on the right, I used Fireworks to create this layout image. So once I get into DW and type up the text I'm sure it'll be fine. (that's also why i had trouble w/ the font size)
    thanks!

Aaah, after I copied and pasted it into my browser it worked. I like #1 better...seems more simpler and nicer to look at.
