    Text ad rates?

I've recently been contacted by an individual who wishes to post 5 plain text links in the global footer of my site, for a flat monthly fee. I serve roughly 1.8 million page views a month, and I am interested in the offer. How much money should I ask for them?

Depends heavily on the position of the advertisement... in a footer I'd say they aren't worth that much CPM, but at a flat monthly rate (for SEO obviously) they might be worth a good penny...

5 text links, eh? Sounds like Co-Op to me (digitalpoint.com). The coop algorithm looks at toolbar PR and the number of pages indexed. If you provide us with those two numbers, we might be able to help you out.

The ads aren't static - I was given this link as a quick sample of some of the links displayed. My site has a PageRank of 5, and is tens of thousands of pages deep.

Yep, that's co-op... you can't sell weight anymore, but I guess selling links is fine.

5*10000 = 50000, I don't remember the exact formula but that's probably worth a few hundred / month to the weight bearer.

I see... Around $350 would be great, as that would cover my hosting costs. Does that sound like a fair price?

They changed it a few weeks ago.

If that's what you think it's worth, propose it to him. I've had people contact me about coop links before. I had about 25,000 pages indexed and a PR5, and I was offered $120 (which is pretty fair, I've come to realize).

$350 would be just under $0.20 CPM for all five links. That sounds like quite a good place to start.

Try asking $360 for an even $0.20 CPM (quite reasonable IMO), and see what they say to that. Hopefully you'll be able to land a quick deal.
