Wink Great trick To raise PR (just discoverd it by luck)

My old website (made in 2002) was a free account in tripod anwarica.tripod.com .. I found it to have PR 3 today and it defeated the new website anwarica.com
Now the secret .. I've hundreds of free accounts (used to upload all my files in .zip) .. and those free accounts are closed as they contains only .zip files, so I was putting .htm , .html files! then said why don't put same contents and links of my site? I made about 30 .htm file in each free account having same contents and links of my free old website! then added them to google .. now after these years I found My old website is PR 3 and the new one is PR 2!
    Very effective, but Legal?
    sorry for long story!

I wouldn't say it was a 'great trick' to wait 2-3 years for a PR3 link.

you won't wait years, it's a matter of weeks or days (I just realised that today after 3 years!)
    That's it

If Google finds that you have opened multiple websites in tripod to raise your PR, you may get penalized. It is better late than sorry.

PR is not the important thing. Try to get more & more backlinks from relevant web sites.

    Exactly!
In addition, backlinks from non-relevant sites can even hurt your PR

It might also be toolbar guessing. It may show a PR of 3, but actually 0.

Instead of worrying about PR get more links from sites that have content related to your websites.

    PR 3 or PR 2!?
    Cheers mate!

But serious, I don't think that PR 2 or PR 3 will give you much! I submitted my Design Web site in the past to few Design directories, that's it & got a PR 3!
I don't know what I did to be honest!

But PR 3 doesn't mean that you have a lot of traffic, that could be even a few visitors a day.

When we speak about PR 5 and 6 then it will be different piece of cake!

Only hard work will do the job... Unfortunately, it's all about SEO, linkexchange, etc.

Hardly worth the effort. I would recommend spending your time maximizing on site factors and then engaging in a link building campaign. There are so many free directories out there that are waiting for you to submit your site. Many sites are wanting to link to you if you would let them know you exist.

I always wondered that when I submit to 'free directories' it only will help building my incoming links or I should also be able to get descent traffic through this method in a reasonable time period?

Although it's more for their anchor text and PR some directories do deliver traffic as well. If you do a good job of submitting your sitre to directories (e.g. you submit to a lot of them) it is not unreasobale to expect, nor to see, some steady traffic as a direct result of those listings.

Do you know 'free directories' (= names) to submit who most likely will give back traffic as well?

    Thanks

None that I can think of off of the top of my head. But I haven't gone looking for them either.

It accomplishes nothing at all. A bunch of PR0 pages with no links linking to another page doesn't accomplish anything.

link:http://anwarica.tripod.com/ has PR3 because it has several links pointing at it, that's all.

I'm interested to develop the idea to make anatomical anastomosis between websites

This same trick has been used to artificially boost rank to PR 10 even by using a permanent redirect. In your case, it seems you have a valid reason to redirect. I'll bet your old sites will get PR 0 at some point if they have not already.
