    New forums - comments?

Hi there. I just thought I'd take this opportunity to show you my own site - I've been helping people out with other sites for quite a while now and I am very impressed with all that I've seen!

I have just installed a phpBB on my site, and although I haven't transferred the data from my old forums to these forums yet, it is operational.

    The new forums are here:
    http://www.mostlyamphigory.com/forums/
At the time of writing, the 'forums' links will take you to the old (existing) forums.

Could you take a look at it please, and comment on it? You could comment on everything from graphics and colour scheme to the performance or features of the board.

I will be transferring the users from my existing forums to these new forums within a day or two, hopefully.

    Thanks all.

Neat! I really like the color scheme and the way it doesn't quite match the rest of the site, but rather sort of complements it. (At least that's the way I saw it.) There's sort of a gradient effect from the bright top and bottom down to the light, sort of relaxed middle. Very nice.

Well, I was going to say that I love it. That I love the colour scheme. That it scales beautifully between different resolutions. That I like the little logo (actually, it looks better than the main graphic in your header - it's the circle behind that sets it off).

Like I said, I WAS going to say all this, but then I read the BLONDE joke!!!!

Don't mind me, I'm having a BLONDE moment!

    Thanks for the reviews sofar.

Yes - I've been fiddling around with a lot of colour schemes so they'll probably change as you are giving reviews. It's harder than I thought to get a colour scheme to look good. My forum has 8 colour schemes to choose from now, and you can test them by going to "Edit preferences" and choosing a theme.

The little logo is a bit better I admit. It looks good because of the plain background behind it I think.

What I'm currently doing is fixing up the html (in the forums) and I'm gradually getting rid of <font> tags in favour of CSS.

Your comments would be much appreciated.

    Excellent colors!

This is definitely the best colors I have seen for phpBB.
Would be of great help if you share them with us...

Anyway, phpBB support board seems to be offline (The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later).

    Excellent job!

I like it. Nice work. I think that if you can find your way around phpBB, it can be pretty good.

My site has a phpBB support forum at http://www.phpbbhacks.com/forum - the best hackers are on my team.

Also, I see what you said about the CSS, there is a phpBB with CSS hack at http://www.phpbbhacks.com/hacks/45.php - maybe that might save you time? Just thought I'd suggest.

    Anyway... good looking forum.

    Patrick,

Your phpbbhacks.com site has been quite helpful to me over the past couple of days especially with things such as the "currently online" hack, etc.

I'm aware of the CSS version (you mean the one by subblue?) but I've done so many modifications already that I just might as well use the version I already have

Rudi, I've mofified the "themes" to have four table colours instead of two, which gives greater flexibility.

My users would probably be interested in a released 4 color table version.

I am glad my site could help you also.

I like the color combination. It seems to take my attention to the top left of the page where your logo is. It must be the read color on my eyes.

hmmm.....I like your logo but I don't like the colors because it looks pink to me somehow. I dunno why but it does and I have this thing against pink. Maybe it's the pink walls in some rooms at school that remind me of an asylum.

it's difficult to review a forum since the content isn't really something you control. But your site is funny a joke is a good thing, just don't get carried away

techie2003, you might be the sort of person to prefer the "mid" or "grey haze" colour scheme on my forum.

In fact I quite like "mid". I might make it the default instead of "peach".

    sweeeeeeet color scheme
    it's really great.

it works great with different resolutions. It even works in 640X480 (or whatever that res. is. i always forget)
i like how in the banner with the words "MostlyAmphigory" it can stretch and squeeze, even though there are those irregular lines. I'd like to know how to do that.

the topics are good and are easy to navigate.

Great site! one of the best forums i've ever seen

    Thanks!

The right hand side of the irregular lines (starting at the dark patch after the 'y') is a table background, so it just fills in the table and is truncated at the edge of the table. I hope my site is proof that one can still design for 640x480 and still make a decent site
