Many editors (like EditPlus) allow searching something across different files so self-contained is not such a good justification. So basically I don't see any advantages in putting all in a big file.

Ah ok, well obviously that's a dumb idea for reusability.

It's arguable, but I'd dare to say that 99% of all classes out there don't need 1000 lines.
    Definitely arguable.

    Size does matter lads!
I wonder how would another programmer feel if he'd be faced with a task of editing your class file

    Pros:
    - Easy to maintain
    - Faster!

My website has 20,000 Lines in a PHP file (1,100 KB). And it runs Very Fast codercc.com Sure if I had some problem I would scale it down to 10-15 files, but why would I go through that hassle? Its just going to take longer to edit things. As long as my server's memory can handle caching a 1 MB file. I will admit its very time consuming, but so is programming in general. Its very simple to edit, all you need is KEdit. I don't even use a PHP edit program, because I see no point. As long as you can read the code like book.

I think we can talk all day about the reasons why such an idea is bad, but the bottom line is, just DON'T do it .. it's silly!
