Exclamation I just have to say: Thank you!

...to all you fine people here at Sitepoint. I have had tons of web site ideas since about 1995. I truly feel a few could possibly have let me retire by now or at least be self-employed and living large.

My problem? A strange mix of ADD and depression.

Well, I had some serious life situations the last few years that are starting to have closure (not the results that I wanted but at least closure). As I get older and leave my "fun prime", I realize I needed to make a move. I spent the last 1.5 months and I am about 90% there (and already getting indexed by the big three, growing traffic, and a squeek of cash from AdSense). I see potential.

I just wanted to thank all of you for your knowledge and inspiration.

To those who keep putting off the future, I say: DO IT!

I wish I would have done something years ago like I wanted...you could have been reading this on my web site (well, not really, but you never know ).

For those who are perfectionists: Just get something out there that works and if you have to tune it, do it after it is up and functional from a core perspective. DO IT!

This is a good message to get out, just do it. Put your fears off and step out on a limb and see if you fly.

What's the worst that can happen? You break the tree or your foot. Either way they both heal.

    Just do it!

Right on. As with so many things in life - often we regret the things we did not do more than the things we did. I have to admit - I was half way out there where I wanted to be and went back almost the whole way until I finally realized that I was heading back to a life I hated. I am back at 50% in the right direction now - going strong towards where I want to be. Live your dreams, don't dream your life.

I have to agree too. Having a sense of urgency really helps. If you feel like you never have enough sites, content, traffic, etc. You will continue to do better all the time.

A highly motivational posting that offers valuable advice to those who still consider whether they should or should not pursue their personal goals. The answer is clear: they should.

    Hi Stephen,

A very inspirational post. Hang in there and keeping DOING IT!

I was blogging today about how affiliates stay motivated to keep trying.
I included part of this post by LeoWebDesign, which I thought was also very inspiring. You may want to read it too.

I read that and posted a reply.

Yup, you just have to do it...

...side benefit: you save money by staying at the house all night (no dance clubs, no golf, no expensive dinners, etc.).

So use a couple months to get a site up and save some dough. Maybe later you can live it up better than you were but be smart about it.

Good luck to all and just do it! (Soon to be sued by Nike.)

    Just doing it:

    UPSIDE:
Also, people, believe me when I say, once you get a site up and feel like you accomplished something, you feel good. As your traffic builds, as search engines pick up your pages, as cash starts trickling in, your motivation goes up significantly. It spreads to others facets of your life too. Take a chance to get "high" on something that is positive. Save money not going out too.

    DOWNSIDE:
It may affect your day job a bit as you stay up late at night and are tired in the morning. Also, you tend to check your stats and read forums at work too (if you have a job where you have internet access) . Try to learn to control this to some extent. Also, every third day or so, take a break from staying up late...get some sleep. Use Saturdya or Sunday morning for some sleep time too.
