Which design do you prefer? Your input would be appreciated!

    Hi everybody,

I am busy re-designing some web sites for the company that I work for and need some valid input from professionals and individuals working with this sort of thing all the time. The design for the site that I'm currently working on must have a professional look and feel, and at the same time be as plain and simple as possible.

Which one of the designs below do you prefer?

Your input would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Pip - try a poll on this one!

    I am torn between 1 and 4.

The color scheme on 1 has a very health/insurance/professional look to it, but I don't like the way the navigation is laid out at the top (too cluttered), and I'm not sure that the graphics used are appropriate (lose the cliche k'board.....it's a health group right?)

No. 4 is very slick & clean. The layout is spaced so it's lurvely and easy on the eye, and it's a design that could look good at through just about the whole spectrum of resolutions.

In fact....is the course of writing this I've made my mind up....I vote 4

Thanx for your valid input H.

To answer your question, it's a Health Group Administrator. The organisation administers medical aid accounts within at least 21 medical schemes. In other words, this is the administrator of various Health Groups. This is the reason that I am using keyboards and monitors in the design, since everything is electronically administered.

Thanx once agian. I've also decided on number 4.

    I like 1.
    after that 3.
    Then 4... and last 2.

(I didn't like the yella - the green is much more "health/friendly")

I guess you already decided, but I'll just throw in my vote

I'd pick 1. It looks very professional. On #4, maybe it's just me, but because the top bar is that dark blue, my eye continously attempts to look upwards at that dark blue. On #1, everything is fairly light. I agree with someone else though who said the navigation is clutterd. If you could fix that up a little, I think 1 would be the best bet.

Pip, my honest advice to you is to get some project management docs (I really need to adapt these and post these in some thread so people can use them) so that you can pull out not only what the company as a whole wants but also why!

Shot for the input HumanClay. I still haven't yet decided on a design, since the decision will be a team effort, so the more votes I can get the better. Maybe I could change all four the layouts according to everyone elses input, then provide them with that.

As for the project management docs, this would be very usefull. I am no expert at project management, so I could do with a little help.

Okay, well un-proprietaring (make sense) the docs is now on my to do list... It will probably get done and flooding me with pm's and emails WILL help

If you don't have it in 2 weeks start a thread to remind me *L*

Wow. Those are very impressive concepts. While I like them all to some degree, I think I'm going to have to go with number 1. It's very clean, professional (more than the others I think), and the colors [darker hues of blue and the turquoiseish colors] on there just remind me of a health group. There's my two cents.
    Good luck and happy coding!

I will most definately take you up on that one studiococo. Best you start preparing to get mail flooded soon. If push comes to shove, I'll create a thread with a poll stating "Do you think studiococo is ever gonna do it? Yes! No! Possibly!

I think one hands down, they are all great layouts and all could work but there is just something abou 1 that I really like.

I like #4 most as well, but I think the colors of #1 are more appropriate to use with Medical things, so I would have used the #1 colors with the #4 design =)

But I see you decided already?

i like #1 but the navigation on the right is too busy.

#3 is the second choice, the colors are nice and the layout is professional.

contrary to everyone else, i liked #2 design except that it is a bit vanilla. i think the brighter colors work well to get the user's attention.

I'm with Fletch and Cow on this one. There's just something about No. 1.

As has been said, it's the nav bar that needs changing to stop it looking cramped, but the overall look is great.

I would also choose number 1. I think it looks the best. The other mockups have too much opf an open feel. Number one anchors you to the left side of the page while leaving the right open.

I know you've made your decision, but I want to vote anyway. My vote is for #1 for much of the reason creole gave. I was torn between 1 and 2. 4 I think has too much color range from the yellows and blacks to the blues and greens...doesn't seem to mesh real well. Also with 4, the eye is drawn to the upper left instead of content in the middle.

I like 1 because it centers the eye. It is very clean and professional and I don't think too "busy". Nice color choices. Like others have said, it reminds me of a health group. I'd lose the keyboard too. :-)

    Have fun!

I would definetly pick #1 - the design is AWESOME. I love your work. I would get rid of the Newmed logo. It clutters up the page and is unneccesary info.
