Who has hired an Affiliate Manager?

This question is for the merchants out there who have an affiliate program for their store.

I'm toying with the idea of hiring an affiliate manager. What are the things I should be looking out for? What should I insist on? What should I watch out for?

This will be a first, and I don't want to get burned.

Does anyone have a sample contract I should have them sign?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi csi95,

The main thing is to find an AM with successful experience managing programs for at least 2 years. The good ones are really hard to find (AND WE HIRE MOST OF THEM!)

Seriously I know companies that have searched for over 5 months to find a good AM. You may want to put a free want ad at http://www.affiliatemanager.net/forums/index.php? which is where most of the good managers hang out.
