Thumbs up $1K is not bad

$1k a month is not bad. I do this because I like keeping my self busy that way I don't get in trouble.

I'm a fulltime new media designer and I started my forum (see my sig.) for fun and because I love gadgets. $1k would land pretty good to me...I have my eye on a BMW M3.

P.S.: I live in Miami, FL (is not cheap around here).

I think your question needs clarification.
    From internet ..advertisment...affiliates etc.

I started off my website as a hobby and didnt realise as I was young that you could make money from the internet. I didnt start making around the $1k until after about 2 years after the setup of the website. Thereafter it has been rising.

$1k a month could be made within about 1 month or you may never, depending on an idea. If you offer something unique that catches on that everyone will use e.g. e-bay then $1k will be within your grasp in no time.

I'd say that a highly motivated and skilled webmaster who starts from scratch, and works full time, should expect to be earning $1,000/month in pure profit within about 3 - 6 months.

Of course, this will vary greatly depending on what kind of site you are running. If your website requires a large starting investment, which must be paid back out of your profits, you might be in the red for many months or even years before you start making profits.

$1,000 in pure profit from the net took me about 10 months of very hard work.

First fan site took a year or so since never really bothered with ads, even though it was doing a huge volume of traffic.

Second non-fan site, took about 3 months to start making $1000....been on the rise since. Guess you live and learn.

It took me a while to get to $1k per month, but I started in this biz way back in the day when it was a "ground floor" opportunity. These days I don't think it would take as long to get to $1k per month as it did 10 years ago.

Multiple sites, I was earning around $200 per month for a year or so which covered my server.
In december I decided to start knocking out sites to try an get up to $2000 to cover mortgage payments on a house, last month I reached $1000 - I'm aiming for $2000 by the end of this year and then to buy my house next year.

It depends how you look at it:

    - If you have a nice full time job PLUS you earn another $1,000-2,000 from home doing affiliate stuff then you have a nice income!

    - If you are a school kid like many here on the forum and earn a few thousand a month, I bet that you do better then the rest for your age.

    - If it's your only job, then it might be better to move to a 3rd world country in order to live in luxury or improve your online income fast!

And people still come here and make stupid posts like "I have had my website for week now and I am earning 10 cents in Adsense, what can I do... boo hoo..."

Takes really hard work and a long time to start seeing decent money

I am actually more surprised by the folks whose site is up and running for 4 weeks and claim to make a $x,xxx.xx income already and then try to sell the sites.

There is nothing wrong with bringing in an extra thousand a month on TOP of your regular income.

I'm sure many of us have contractor/consulting positions making $500 or so a day who still wouldn't complain about an extra 12k a year.
Best way to go IMHO providing you have a decent day job.
