    PHP Session don't end

    My sessions worked fine on my server until I changed two options under php.ini:
    session.cache_expire=1
    session.cookie_lifetime=1
    Afterwards I changed them back to 180 and 0 respectively, as the default was.
    I also called the function session_destroy() a few times.

    Now, even after I close my browser and open it again, when session_start() is called, the last session that was open is recalled as if it was registered already.

    I use a Username/Password authentication before starting a session, but it behaves as if the person already signed up, even if a new browser window is opened.

    What could the problem be?

    Partial answer

    Under the topic "Sessions that last" I saw a variable session.gc_maxlifetime. After I changed this variable to 1 second and then back to 1440 seconds, everything was reset and seems to be working fine now.
