Not sure if this helps at all but this is whats written about RFC822 section 6.2.7....

Excerpt taken from the w3.org website

RFC822 section 6.2.7. EXPLICIT PATH SPECIFICATION
At times, a message originator may wish to indicate the transmission path that a message should follow. This is called source routing. The normal addressing scheme, used in an addr-spec, is carefully separated from such information; the <route> portion of a route-addr is provided for such occa-sions. It specifies the sequence of hosts and/or transmission services that are to be traversed. Both domain-refs and domain-literals may be used.

Note: The use of source routing is discouraged. Unless the
sender has special need of path restriction, the choice
of transmission route should be left to the mail tran-
    sport service.

It sounds like you've set your email client up with an incorrect from email address. Whether or not this was deliberate I don't know. The SMTP server that you are going through may be set up to verify the from field as an anti-spam measure.

Is this something that has just happened out of the blue, or have you been altering your settings recently?

No, it just suddenly happened right out of the blue! It might have been something with my ISP though, because its not happening anymore, and I didnt do anything to change my settings. Oh well, hope its fixed now!
