    buying software

    hi there
I've got a kind of open ended question about buying software.
I was in a pickle as to whether to get tht macromedia MX 2004 studio
or wait till the next version...then this business with Adobe buying them out happens.
Now I feel uncertain about buying it.. Will it still be supported in a year? Should I make do with Nvu for a while and see what happens? Is it better to buy at the start of a studios iterative cycle or towards the end?

I'm on a large learning curve with other things, so I'm not too bothered about buying soon, but I was about to buy a few weeks ago.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
I basically wanna design websites with animated vector graphics.

Then just get a stand-alone vesion of Flash. Seriously, if you need it, then buy it now. If we all waited for 'that' next upgrade, we'd be without any software.

Also check around if you're a student because you can get academic versions at discounted prices.

I think I would like to buy drugs from you. Flash isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Do you think this kind of offer will transfer over into MX2005? Will they price the new studio like this from the onset do you know?

    Thanks for the replies!

You have to be careful if you purchase educational software. If you wish to use the software for commercial use, then you will have to buy the full version.

Unless there is a version which you can buy with a student discount, which allows you to use for commercial purposes.

Well, that still looks like the educational version. I'm sure they would specify if you can buy a version with a 'student' discount, but still use it for commercial use.

I'm thinking you would need to look at something like this:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...846060-9912445

Of course you could get it cheaper if you buy it second hand.
