Access to current rates of exchange

Hi,

I'm currently building an online PHP application with a feature which would benefit from knowing the current rates of exchange to calculate prices in different currencies. So, I'm wondering if anyone has ever done anything similar, and if there exists an online service for developers which gives them and their programs access to current exchange rates.

Actually it's simple arithmetic.

Seriously, though, this is a good question. Anyone know of any RSS-based sources for exchange rates? It seems to me this would be a good service to charge for...

Try www.OandA.com they provide such a system, we use it on our site, although I forgot to add the cron job again so it's not been updated in a while.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, the fee of $350 per month for access to exhange rates in XML format is too expensive for the use which I was planning.

What O and A don't tell you is that they have a free version available for you to use, but it takes a fair old bit of coding to get it working - but not to much to make it not worth-while.

I am considering offering the currencies available in XML format myself, just depends on how many people would be interested.

the exchange project has a conversion tool, but I have no clue how it works.

Check this page for my customisation of the free iframe/embedded currency conversion tool from www.xe.com. Note: the iframe works in IE only - it's replaced by a pop-up window in Netscape.

I would also be interested in being able to load a daily feed of exchange rates into a MySQL database. The visitor to the site could then select their local currency, and it would then be easy to display all prices on the site in their local currency.

So if anyone knows how I can access any economical (free?) daily fx rate tables, please post here.
