Sign up and Login System

Hello everyone,

I would like to built a sign up and login system on my site, i have followed severals tutorial, but so far nothing works as it should, has anyone followed a tutorial that has worked for them, or are there a good login software that I can just installed and use. any reply would be much appreciated.

i designed one for myself according to my needs. its a simple system with properties like
user registration, activation by mail, password reset, password change, roles and permissions for users

thanks for your reply, i followed tutorial where their codes are not up to scratch, sometime when you download the tutorial file, the login.php file is blank no codes in them. i want a login system where usere can register, login in, verify the registration, retrieve their password, log out, protected pages similar to what jaswinder have, again as the answers i always get, people asks question, pls i am not being ungrateful, i just want someone to say, i done this tutorial it works brilliant, or buy this software.

thanks for your reply, you've design exactly what i am looking for, but unfortunately for me i am not as good as you to be able to do coding. i've been around different sites, but no luck, they are not up to scratch, i found some tutorials are basic and not advanced i've seen enough comment from other users they all have had problems following tutorial, what confuses me is some site want you to register before you follow their register & login system tutorial, but when you follow their tutorial it doesn't work, so how on earth did they do their register and login system. as usual no luck. i repeat my question again, i am after a true tutorial that work, or a software. so if anyone can direct me to the right place i would be most grateful.
