    =/

I never had the opportunity to truly apologize for Dayspring Internet plagerism incident. For starters, I really am sorry. There are however a few things that no one ever understood.

First of all, Dayspring Internet, at the time that you guys found the hacked up SP design, wasn't anything more than just a random name. I was asked to do a site by my girlfriends dad so I made eastkylaw.com. After awhile I decided to say that 'Dayspring Internet' designed it. Old Town Travel is a random travel agency that went out of business 2 months before you guys ever noticed the fact that it was copied as well. GoPrestonsburg.com opens August 1st. It's just a local portal site that I've been trying to learn to program with.

The site, just like day-spring.net, was never opened. I live in a town with 8,000 people and never expected anyone to find these sites. I copied the Site Point design just for the sake of having something new to look at. Citysearch? Heh ... Where else to try to get inspiration for a portal site than from the king of local portals etc.

But anyhow, here I am now. I'm 18 and getting ready to start the Computer Science program at Virginia Tech. The lady that you guys talked to if you actually called my house was my mother. I've actually learned a whole bunch about how powerful Google is .. Geezus .. It's caused me muchos trouble.

I've spent the summer porting a 200,000 record Access database to SQL 2000 and writing an ASP front end. The company is Global Technology Services - http://www.globaltechservice.com ... I've also since re-designed Dayspring Internet's site .. http://www.day-spring.net ... I got my act together and am currently working on 5 different client sites. As far as Go! Prestonsburg is concerned, I've re-scripted the site from the ground up. The design isn't going to be great, but at least it won't be copied. The one that can currently be seen at GoPrestonsburg.com is a layout that I made 3 years ago when I first got the idea for making the site. I just threw it up after I took down my CitySearchGoPrestonsburg.com site

I'm honestly not that big of a loser. I've been doing freelance programming for awhile .. and have taken a huge interest in design and development ever since I was first introduced. I really don't know what to do ... I want to be a part of the SitePoint community, as it is one of the most helpful, well thought out, and just down right wonderful sites in existance .. but I guess that for the most part everyone pretty much hates me etc :/

Heh .. Keep in mind that I just graduated High School .. and I live in a small redneck town ... so I honestly had no idea that I could cause such an uproar ... I just needed placeholders etc. =(

Anyhow, I appreciate the lesson that I've learned. It was needed and will help me out a lot. Keep up the amazing work ...

    Thanks ...

    Michael Campbell

Well, for what it's worth, I think the existing design of DaySpring is great...nice, clean, fresh.

ps.. Just had a look at day-spring...know this isn't a review but you may want to do something about the table widths - I'm scrolling horizontally at 1024 * 768!

So am I and boy is it beautiful.
If you're referring to OriginalH's horizontal scrolling problem, he was using 1024x768 though.

I can actually view the site in 800*600 w/o Horizontal Scrolling. OriginalH, is it on all pages or just the first etc? Please let me know so I can try to fix it.

Oh yea .. I can't believe that I got this thread going again :-(

    Hrmph

One more thing that I'm having a slight problem with is ASP and SSI Caching. When I change something in one of the header/footer files it doesn't show up. I have to put <% response.buffer = false %> to get it any changes to actually show up ... and even that doesn't work sometimes.

Good stuff. One has to remember that the web is a public space, and that others may happen upon your work, however unlikely, if it is publicly available.

    Hi Michael,

Well, I think it's pretty clear that nobody hates you, and I think most of us actually admire your honesty. That took a degree of courage. It has also provided a pretty feisty discussion, along with a good forum for posing a lot of worthwhile questions on copyright. I think that many of us learned a bit from this ;-)
