stupid windows updater

Everyday windows notifiys me that there are critical updates waiting to be installed. I click "install updates" and it takes me to the "windows update" page. in the critical updates section, there is one critical update. and check it, and click download. it downloads but fails to install. the windows update page says "critical update, failed to install"

i close the window.

the next day the same ordeal happens. my only other choice is to click "ignore for 1 day"

what do i do?

What version of Windows are you running?

If its WinMe you are using goto the control panel, double click "Automatic Updates" and select "Turn off automatic updating, I will update my computer manually". That should do the trick.

Note: it may differ for other versions of windows

I was using Windows ME before, but it sucked so bad, I formated my computer and installed Windows 98.

So I am using Windows 98.
