Watching movies online
Does anyone know where I can watch new release movies online? Does anyone know of any sites that will let me do this? How much will it cost me and how good is the quality?

I dont know of any sites that do that as the bandwidth requirements would be gigantic. I couldnt see how anyone could make a profit from it.
Besides the quality would be poor if you wanted to watch it full screen and you would want at the very least some sort of cable or DSL connection if not a T1 or T3 link.
It would a lot easier to get a DVD player or go to the movies in person! Now theres a novel idea....

atomfilms.com is an online movie distributer.
They show short films (up to about 20 mins each) from around the world, streaming in Quicktime, Real and Windows Media from speeds of 56k modem right up to 300k broadband.
The quality is poor, it's nothing compared to DVDbut compared to VCD, the broadband versions are pretty good.
You won't see many of their films in cinemas, because cinemas are reluctant to screen short films these days.
Their are other sites like atomfilms - ifilm.com is one. But sites like ifilm aren't exclusive distributers of films so the stuff you see there will be a lot more amateur.Last edited by mmj; Jun 14, 2001 at 09:25.

When I first got DSL I went nuts watching movies online, funny thing is, I never watch TV
Here's a couple other places.
http://www.cinemanow.com/
http://www.filminacup.com/
and http://www.directmovie.com/free-movies.htm lists others
The quality ranges depending on your connection and the speed they send it out (definitely not DVD quality). They are all free and they don't have any new releases but I have found some really good stuff!
In case anyone wants music videos, try http://www.launch.com
I prefer this to waiting for muchmusic to play my favorite videos.
