    overlapping in ie6 doesn't work

    hi everyone!
    after searching a few hours in these forums i think i have to post my problem.

    this is the url i've got my problem with.

    i want the active link (Preise & Leistungen) in the left menu to overlap the shadow next to the menu, so that it seems as if the content merges with the active link.

    in firefox it works, but ie6 (as customary) makes problems..

    i think the relevant code is:
    Code:
    a.submenulinkactive {
      width:148px;
      height:3em;
      float:right;
      display:block;
      margin-right:-4px;
      border-top:1px solid #E2ECF2;
      border-left:4px solid #821625;
      border-bottom:1px solid #E2ECF2;
      background-color:white;
      text-decoration:none;
    }

    #middlecolumn {
    	border-right: 1px dashed #821625;
    	background-image:url(../inc/pics/fade.gif); /* shadow of submenu */
    	background-repeat:repeat-y;
    	margin: 0;
    	width: 100%;
    	z-index: 0;
    }

    #left {
    	float: left;
    	margin-left: -162px;
    	padding: 2em 0;
    	width: 162px;
    	position: relative;
    	text-align:right;
    	z-index: 2;
    }
    does anyone know a solution?

    thanks alot,
    jule

    Why not just set the righthand border for a:active to zero?

    hi,
    it's not the right border of the a.active element but the background image of the middlecolumn-element..
