    Wink Cre8pc Community

It's not often I get to show off the Cre8pc gang, but wanted to do so since Sitepoint offers a lead-in.

Cre8pc.com (formerly Cre8pc Website Promotion) has been online since 1996 and cultivated quite a crowd of friends, fans, a network of online businesses and a crew of enthusastic web developers who love user interface, usability and search engine optimization issues.

Cre8pc started a club in Yahoo in 1998 and from that the community began to grow. There was a newsletter for awhile...and the site partners with another club in Yahoo for small businesses. Between us we have nearly 3000 members. Cre8pc also partners with 2 businesses, one an ISP and the other a business startup service. We have a network of professional developers and websites we refer work out to as well. All are members of the "family" or in some way have added to the spirit of Cre8pc.

Cre8pc didn't start out with the purpose of creating community. It just happened. To anyone wanting to start a community, just be yourself and learn to accept all kinds of people with all kinds of opinions, thinking, and occasional outbursts. It's the human part that makes the whole internet community thing work.

I think the design is good. A small objection tough: the bar at the bottom, with the links, is not consistent through all pages. This is something I don't like.

I don't like the forums, simple because they are threaded, but for the rest, it looks good.. there are some interesting conversations going on. You might want to try vBulletin. ;-)

What is "vBulletin"? I wouldn't mind looking into it.

Yes, the footers are different. Gosh, there's probably 3 different ones! Reason being that Cre8pc.com is a one person show - and a single mom show at that. I work on other people's and other companies' sites full-time so of course my own gets left to walk its own journey most of the time.

What's been nice about the community aspect is that regulars to the site over the years have picked up on my crazy life as well. Some people really jive with the volunteerism behind the site, or how I write, or explain things, and I love to invite club members to help teach new people. It gives them great exposure and all around support.

When community comes from the heart, and not the ego, really nice things can happen

Thanks for checking the site out. Feedback is welcome and often hard to come by.

The board you are talking on is vBulletin.
Communities from the heart are the best thing. Sadly, they are also a seldom thing.

    Good luck with your site.
