Exclamation erm netscape doesn't like my css

    Hi there peeps,

for ages now, I have stored all my css classes etc in an asp file, or should I say in my favorite html editor, when it asks me where to save my css, I name it as css.asp.

Now everything works totally fine in IE, but when I went to test my first few pages in netscape ( testing my javascript functions ) none of the backgrounds would appear, and all the text was different.

When I opened the Javascript Console, it told me the following error:

Error: The stylesheet http://localhost/root7/cgi-bin/inc_css/gencss.asp was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html", is not "text/css".

Yet the file is included by the following code:

    <link href="cgi-bin/inc_css/gencss.asp" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

Does anyone know why this is happening

    TIA

    Gav

lol sorry.. I lie, I screwed up. I copied the contents of the gencss.asp to gencss.css and removed the mime type and it worked, I need it to be an asp page so I can run coding through it.

Not sure whether asp will work in an .css page as it wont be parsed as asp.

    hi Gav,
i really cant say whats happening when u open your console, but i do know about testing your css in netscape.

During the era of the browser wars bw MSIE 4.0 and netscape 4x, they both implemented css in different ways, which made things really confusing, until MSIE became the most widely used browser (in short won the war)

U didnt say what version of netscape you are using, but the earlier versions didnt support backgrounds and handled some css badly. They also both implemented different versions of Jscript.

i originally downloaded a version of netscape, but when you install it, it downloads files from their servers, so no doubt its the newest version:

    Netscape 7.2
    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.2) Gecko/20040804 Netscape/7.2 (ax)

    Cheers
