    Client Management Forum

I'd like to suggest that a forum where people can discuss how they handle clients be added. Many of the people here are web designers that have to deal with clients (whereas some are webmasters and only work on their own websites). Things like how to talk to a client, a prospective client, getting approval from difficult clients, etc are good topics many people could benefit from reading about.

I think most people use the Business and Legal Issues forum for this.

Yea, I figured as much (and I have done the same in the past). However, my first thought for this forum is literally "Business and Legal Issues" - like taxes, contracts, etc. and not necessarily dealing with clients.

What about spinning of a new forurm named "Running a Web Design Business" which would focus on companies with 2-15 employees and the challenges they face in client management, billing, employee rentetion/recruitement/outsourcing, project management, etc.?

I would really like if it was not limited to Web Design, as also development, hosting and on-line communities (amongst others, I am sure) are represented by SitePoint members...

More like a "Running YOUR on-line Business" is more appropriate?

We already have Forums focused on that. There's one specificall for e-commerce business discussion and another one on online communities

My thoughts exactly. I could definitely do with something like this as I go it alone next year

Maybe the Business and Legal Issues forum is exactly what I am requesting, but the name isn't working for me. What if it was named "Managing your business" which would then include managing financial stuff like taxes, contracts, legal issues, AND the ins and outs of a business like dealing with clients.

Good idea Matt. As a sub-section of Business & Legal Issues perhaps? It would be sweet to have a 'Legal Issues' sub-section as well.

I don't really see the need for it, personally. I think the Business and Legal Issues forum covers both, er, business and legal issues well, already. And there doesn't seem to be enough use to warrant extra forums right now, in my opinion. Getting about 15-20 active threads per days in B&L. That's great... but no need to break it up into 2 or 3 forums.

Take a look at the B&L description, too:

Learn how to build and manage a Business, discuss your problems, solutions, successes and failures.
I think it covers most everything pretty well.
