    How do YOU relieve boredom?

I am currently sat at work, bored out of my tiny mind - my only solace being the Site Point Forums and the wealth of informative, ammusing and thought provoking threads they provide...

Just wondering what other people here do to pass the time? (other than surf SitePoint - obviously!)

'Kay - how about if you work for an Internet TV company who are under a 'use-it-or-loss-it' contract and employ people they don't really need, so there is not enough work to go around and your Art Director has got it in for you, so won't give you any work, which makes you look bad - so he has enough evidence to sack you in a few months time.
Not that, that matters because I will quit before he has the chance (or the whole thing will go down the tubes).

if you are really bored, quit, but make a huge scene.. thats always good to relieve bordome.. like if you have an intercom system or some equivilent get on and say something like "I, ______, do hereby officially quit this god forsaken heck hole of a business." And then spread false rumors about the Art director that will get him fired..

on second thought.. that could be a bad idea.. oh well, might releive the boredome...

oh by the way, the quitting over the intercom thing was actually done by someone when i was working at Wal-Mart a while back. but he used alot more cuss words and such when he said it...

I'd have to wrestle the receptionists - they are pretty fearsome!

I need the money - that's the only good thing about the job.

I have thought about putting 'Slowly Going Insane' on my email sign off, or 'Photoshop Monkey'...

When I'm bored I just have a nap. When I wake up, something exciting is usually happening.

I'm now in exactly the same situation. I'm bored, I want to go home. Don't you just hate Friday afternoons at work?

My solution to being bored usually is to eat biscuits and drink lots of coffee. Between the sugar and the caffeine the day just seems to float by

Same situation here.. Sitting in my cube, it's Friday and i'd much rather be at the beach. I am quite bored as well, the repetitive nature of this work is slowly eating away at my sanity. Boredom happens, i've found little to solve this problem. I usually have a cup of ice coffe, extra sugar and take a walk around the place for a few. Occasionally, a nerf ball will fly by, that can make things interesting. Mostly though, it's just far too quiet around here.

Their 18th birthdays ? You got twins ?

Boredom at work wasn't an issue when this was still hosted on expensive, poor Mac servers: as I had to handcode everything in HTML, my days seemed pretty short. Now that we've moved on Unix, I'm slowly re-coding all the stuff in PHP, which is more interesting, but also I realize there won't be any work left to do within two or three months of slow work...
If I don't quit this 3-years contract before its end, I might just be re-designing the website dozens times for the next 2 years...

*IF* I'm bored, I browse around on Anandtech Forums, program a bit (the number of languages I know has increased to 5 ) and 'play' with my soldering-iron.

Wait, I'm thus never bored :Q

The best way to deal with boredom is to avoid it. I am not bored very often, especially in the school year, but if and when I am, I will visit some sites and forums that I less frequently post at.
