    Default browser width

Is it important to make site fit in browser well?
What is the best width in pixel/inches/centimeters?

Usually websites are prepared for the 800x600 resolution, which results in ca. 780 page width. Of course there are many designers using 1024 too.
As long as 800x600 resolution is popular, making the website looking well in it is a good idea...

Actually if you want to accomodate everyone in an 800x600 environment you'll want to have a max of 760px wide (for Mac browsers and those with extra data on the left side).

Or, if you want an easier way to accomodate all browsers I would make the design liquid. This means your design will stretch and shrink depending on the width of the users browser window. Sometimes this isn't feasible based on the design, but if possible, it's probably the best bet.

    OK Thanks.
Liquid design width - yes, but it still has to have minimal width that it works in

Can someone check if site in my signature (bold) fits in your browser well, and if letters are too small to read. I get different results in different browsers. In most browsers I use I see wide page with readable text.

    (ps:this is not a promotion)

    Done!
    Checked in:
    - IE6 and Firefox
    - 1280x1024
Looks fine - 2" marigins and readable texts.

Well realestate, your site shoud fit in every 1024 and higher resolution, but in no 800 and lesser resolution as its about 900px wide. Its that simple.

Here is a complete list of the canvas width and height of nearly all browsers.
