Making a File a Folder?

I have a friend that downloaded a folder, but somehow managed to rename it to a file name. Any chance that we'd be able to get it back to folder state? I've tried renaming in dos and the ATTRIB command as well, all without luck.

Please, if you could help us out here, I'd greatly appreciate it. Even if he just downloads this again, i still want to know how to do this.

hmmm...

I just tried creating a folder, then naming it index.html and it was still a folder. I could still open it, and get to the contents. Are you using Windows or Linux. If you did it in Linux I think you're screwed as Linux sees everything (including folders) as files.

Are you sure he downloaded a folder? Windows Me (and XP Beta 2, or Windows 98 with Plus!) make ZIP files appear as folders, and you can rename the extension.

My mistake. We're using Windows, by the way...This is definitely a stumper. The major obstacle in trying to solve this was that my friend is fairly computer illiterate. Also, it's like doing tech support over the phone..you know, "I can't type anything". "Try clicking on the window." "oh, okay." So, any ideas yet? Thanks in advance, still.
