Please review my site, Windows Media Central - "Going beyond MP3..."

Please review the following pages of my site.

    When reviewing my pages...
    ::--------------------------------::>
PRETEND you're both a visitor looking for something and reviewer telling what bothers you and what I can do to improve my site.
IF you're not looking for anything, how can you find anything?
JUST a little tip when reviewing my site and other sites.

PLUS, please give my site a rating like out of 10 or out of 5.

    Pages to review...
    ::--------------------------------::>
    The MIDI Archives
    http://wmc.topcities.com/midi-zone__home.htm

    The MOD Archive
    http://wmc.topcities.com/mod-zone__home.htm

My Personal Collection Windows Media Audio
    http://wmc.topcities.com/wma-zone__sounds.htm

My Personal Collection Of Funny Video Clips
    http://wmc.topcities.com/wmv-zone__video_clips.htm

PLUS, I would like to know if 8.21% first-time vistors return, and 1.37% of visitors have visited 10 times since 3/18/01, are those bad percentages or good ones. The average page views per vistor since 3/18/01 is 2 pages (and they range from 1 page to 7 pages per visit); is that bad or is that good?

    Thank you and happy reviewing!

    http://wmc.topcities.com/midi-zone__home.htm :
The width shouldn't be any longer than the screen size (ie no horizontal bars). The links in the graphics are too small and hard to see. The left navigation bar is too wide. The banner up top is too big (or is it required?). Get a real host and a domain name. Take off the Microsoft FrontPage logo - why do we need to know what it was made with? We're just looking for midi's! Personally, I don't like the green colors, and that is why I am giving you .5 out of 5 's

Oh yeah, the other pages are exactly the same except for the content, which is why I didn't review those.

    Hi Kev,
If I was still 14 I'd be proud to call that my site.
You did a lot of work.
    But now for the review-
I know that the banner comes with geocities but may be a good idea to buy a site, they cheap now, and it's fun pickin the name lol.
Also your links at top of page are tiny maybe cos I'm viewing at 1024x768 but they r small.
Could maybe use some images just to break things up a little.
I'm afraid I agree that I don't like colour scheme but hey might just be my eyesite.
Your site is fast loading and functional maybe just needs a little jazzing up.
    Good Luck
    Russ

<Advisor edit: This post was posted in the wrong place so I tried to find someone age 14 whose name was kev to match up with. I hope I found the right Kev! Think of me as the dead letter office.>

None of the pages are working for me....just thought I'd bump the post up so other people could review.

Other than having a too much green, and the width of the pages are too wide, it's pretty cool. Maybe have your headers green with white inside. Just my opinion.

Well, when I think about what I was up to at 14.....

You sure have alot of information on your site, and to people who understand it it might work, but I was completely overwhelmed. I didn't really know where to start. If there is some way to organize the information or set it apart or something that would be great.

The links on the top frame are too crowded together and hard to see. For example there are two "links" links and I am not sure if they belong with other words up there.

Your top blue banner runs all the way to the right hand side of the screen even though the page of information doesn't. Can you cut it off?

Small grammar point for you - on this page -http://wmc.topcities.com/midi-zone__home.htm
in the Midi description you have two "you're" - the first you're is correct (you are) but the second one should be "your".

I guess the only other specific thing I have to mention is that in the past when I saw a site like this I could listen to the Midi without having to open it and zip it. I don't know if I would take the time to do this with each tune to see if I wanted it.

Regardless, I am pretty impressed with what you have done and what you are capable of.

    Keep it up.

    cool

Hey Kevin, good job for a 14 year old but i have a couple of tips.

    first of all i use:
    IE 5.5
    1024x768
    DSL

Loading time was okay, I see you got some javascript or something for netscape people when they resize. Personally, I would have to tell you to forget Netscape users. THey're rare as they are and it's too much of a pain to bother with them, esp. using javascript. And because your prob. is resizing, it's better to just use complex tables.

The colors are decent. They go. But there's way too much content on one page, alll of them actually. You need to organize them better. It's one thing to have awesome and unique content, which you do, but you def. don't want to overload the user with too much info. The amount of text on all your pages is overwhelming to the first time user.

Also, I personally hate Microsoft Frontpage, they do funky code. Dreamweaver is better.
