Two things to think about. If you are going to create your own search engine that relies on Google's results, then you will need to have Google's permission to pull those results. I'm sure Google will have a fee for this right. Also, what form of advertising do you intend to use. Google AdSense is out as Google doesn't allow AdSense banners on other people's search results.

Unless you get permission from Google, it would be quite illegal.

Although this is a tad bit off topic: Why would anyone use your site when it's the same results as Google? What will make yours special? There's already MSN, Yahoo, and Google preparing to have a head to head to head fight, how do you think you'll manage to push your way to the top? Even if you use your own results, again, whatm you better?

I don't mean to discourage you, just thought I'd be realistic and point it out.

Should be fair to mention that Google does have an API, but you are limited to 1000 searches a day.

    Google doesn't like Metasearchers!
If I recall correctly, Teoma lets you, and I find they have relevant results. If you can write a JS XML parser, then you could use Yahoo! API and just limit each PERSON to 5000 searches a day (or whatever yahoos limit is)

To be honest, I believe I would be able to build one knowing what I have learned over the years. But it would take a team of motivated, talented and dedicated people with combined efforts.

Are there any search engine scripts that will spider the web similar to google or gigablast and it's open source?

Waste of time. Think of something more original IMO.

You can't really use Yahoo's, Google's API for search results.
The limit they put is too low.
Does anybody know of a decent search engine that will give you unlimited search results in XML feeds besides building your own from scratch?
