What ICQ version do you use??

What ICQ version do you use??

Version 2001b or version99a or even an older version...

I think 2001b is awful, ads, and so much annoying extras (even in simple mode), also it takes up alot of RAM

The one thing I don't like about 99a is the fact that when you reply or message someone the dialog box closes... so you can't see the whole conversation or minamize a conversation.

    Anyway what are your thoughts??

In Windows I use 2000b. I don't like it too much, but it is probably the best overall IM program as far as features and number of users go.

In Linux I use Everybuddy, which lets me talk with people in ICQ, MSN M, AIM, and Yahoo messenger. It is a pretty good program, although it lacks many features that those programs have.

I used ICQ 99b for a long time but for some reason it wouldnt connect to the ICQ network. So I upgraded to ICQ 2000a (no ads :P).

I'm on 2000b. I don't use it much though because most of my friends are on AIM anyway.

ICQ turning into Bloatware, and having ads is all down to it being owned by AOL (Assholes Online).

Which is why I wont use AOL or AIM - although I had AIM forced upon me when installing NS4.7 (AOL/NS=Hypocrites)

    Jabber/ICQ99b.

I'll stick to ICQ99b until ICQ gets less bloated and AOL decides to drop the advertisements (i.e. never).

I use 2000b. I'm hoping ICQ has taken so long to release a 2001 version because they are working hard on making it less cluttered and bulky. I regularly run AIM, ICQ, and MSN along with Outlook, Winamp, and Internet Explorer. Surprised my 400 PII, 192 RAM can handle that.

There's several freewares on Hotfiles.com that do this that I've seen. I haven't bothered trying them out yet.

I gave up on icq when it started becoming "bloat-ware" Even the older revs seemed to be kind of unstable for me sometimes. It has some really nice features, but overal, I don't miss it.

Here's a question for you current users tho'. Do ICQ and AIM interoperate since they are both aol *bleah* products?

Believe me, the best one is 99b. Not as simple and bad as 98, and not as bloated and full of advertisements as 2000b.
