    I'd like some free hosting
or I would not be boasting
    about my poetic skills.

I may not be the best designer
but at least I'm not a minor
these kids think I'm over the hill.

Some of us work for a living all day
and maybe get in a little play
and we have to account for our bills.

The young ones are home from school
learning the newest web and code tool
and zooming in for a first person kill.

    But contests are our chance
    to do a little dance
and win one for a thrill.

I sent my entry in a couple of days ago, but I'll post it here too, just for fun :)

Twas the night before deadlines, and all through my head,
not a motor was churning, all circuits were dead.
My boss' idea? A website to make!
"No problem," I said to myself, "piece of cake."

And now as I sit here, alone in the dark,
my monitor glares at me, where do I start?!
Now more than ever, I needed a hand.
I can't just do nothing, I'd surely get canned!

When all of a sudden, my mind dares portray,
An orange and white arrow, pointing the way!
Away to my keyboard, I flew like a flash
    And typed "H-T-T-P-colon-slash-slash"

My computer, disgruntled, had started to whir
My hard drive was crackling, my monitor blurred.
When what to my to my weary eyes should display?
A SitePoint Advisor! Hallelujah, I'm saved!

A programming genius, the community brain,
I knew in a moment it had to be Wayne!
And lined up beside him, his leaders, so proud.
He gave them all titles and called them aloud:

"On Creole! On Saltire! On Aspen and Marc!"
"On Nicky! On Fluffy! On Webkat and Spark!"
"To the Web Design forum, go update the FAQ!"
"And when you're done there, lurk in General Chat!"

As volunteers, all of them gladly obeyed.
I had to admit, I was simply amazed!
So down through the forums, their knowledge they shared
To those of us (like me) who came unprepared.

I learned about Java and HTML,
    ASP, Flash and MySQL.
I was ready to conquer, I'd soon show my boss,
I could make a website, all hope was not lost!

I made not a sound but went straight to my chore,
With dozens of articles piled up on the floor.
A click of my mouse and the files were transferred,
I couldn't believe how much I had learned!

I sprang from my chair, my work was complete.
At last I could get some much-needed sleep!
I thanked all the members, then got ready for bed,
Thanks to SitePoint, I had mastered the Web.

    Gosh Sparkie, that was beautiful

I know this is a few days late, but I don't need a host anyway, so what the heck.

    {
I sweat and sweat over my PHP
It gives me a "parse error", I know not where.
The screen gets blurry, it's hard to see
As I go over my code line by line, hair by hair.

"What the heck!" I exclaim, totally bemused
As I take a break to grab me a soda.
"Either my system's been somehow abused,
Or I'm just really not that great of a coder!"

I shake my head and rub my eyes
As I run through the file again and again
It's getting late; the time it flies
Is my MySQL working? What about strlen?

I get to the end of the code one last time
And a look of shock appears on my face
    I have committed the programmer's cardinal crime;
I forgot to include the closing brace!
    }
