PHP event calendar (freddydoesphp or Kevin Yank)

Hey guys, I'm using a calendar from the scripts provided in The PHP Anthology, chapter 6, and I've got everthing working beautifully except that Monday is the first day of the week and I need it to be Sunday.

How do I do this? If you want to see the code, I'll post it. Thanks!

P.S. While I've got your attention, how do I get rid of the "0" before days 1-9? That's got to be easy, but I don't know how.
