    mysql working remotely

    I am having problems accessing mysql remotely from a seperate server.

    I believe the client side is fine, what I am considered about is the server side....

    how can I tell mysql to allow connections from this other server????????

    I have read the manual a lot and what I have found, has not helped fully................is there anything you can suggest????
    thanks,
    brennen

    Use this command in mysqladmin

    GRANT priv_type [(column_list)] [, priv_type [(column_list)] ...]
    ON {tbl_name | * | *.* | db_name.*}
    TO user_name [IDENTIFIED BY 'password']
    [, user_name [IDENTIFIED BY 'password'] ...]
    [WITH GRANT OPTION]

    no, the right way is this...

    GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON database.* TO username@hostmask IDENTIFIED BY 'somepass' WITH GRANT OPTION

    so in your case

    GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON database.* TO someone@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'somepass' WITH GRANT OPTION

    that will allow any hostmask in with the correct username/password
