need to get results form two similar tables in one results set - MySQL 3.23

I have two tables, one for each different versions of a paper form. You know how one form ages out and is superceded by another form by the same name?

I am using MySQL 3.23 (so I can't use UNION) and need to combine the results from two different tables into one results set so I can easily loop through the results set when displaying that form results.

    Any ideas?

    ideas? i got tons

one idea is to kick your host in the pants and get them to upgrade, already -- 4.0 went production status on Mar 15, 2003, i.e. two years ago

another idea -- don't use separate tables, use a status indicator for current/history in a single table

    a "last resort" idea -- http://www.jinxidoru.com/tutorials/union.html

that is beautiful, thanks! I called my hosting company - no deal on upgrading. I'd love to use stored procedures or whatever the MySQL comparable is.

I guess I'll have to until I can afford my own servers or $300.month for a managed hosting account.

stored procedures is version 5.0, but that's still in beta

the current version is 4.1 (released to production in october 2004)

the previous version is 4.0 (march 2003), and it supports UNION

you're on the version before that

your host is lame, switch hosts
