I'm just curious...
I realize SP has clearly stated that they don't allow selling of signatures, but what's the punishment? Temporary ban? Just remove the signature and give a warning?
Just curious. (My pride's worth more than they pay anyway)

Hello
Yeah I joined that place but then I found out that it is against the rules, or at least I though it was?
Yeah I was pretty sure it was too, but Vinnie's doing it...

One question Nathan, what's it to you?
Curious, that's all.
- Nathan

Yes, it's against the rules.
Anyone found with a commercial sg will have it deleted, they will be given a first and final warning, and the company that paid them will be added to a warning list of signature buyers. If the buyer is a member they will be told to not buy sigs here.
2nd offense gets you a nice new permanent ban. This goes for the buyer and seller. We may go as far as adding the buyers name to the swearlist so it gets censored in sigs and posts if they are getting people to advertise for them often.
I advise everyone Nathan posted above make sure their sigs aren't breaking the rules![]()

It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

You won't have any problem from me. As I say I signed up, then figured out it was against the rules here (or at least I assumed it was, now I know for sure) so I never did anything about it. Plus noone has offered to payOriginally Posted by Mike

Thanks for clearing that up.
Now... can we sell our avatar? How about member title? How about username? Password...?![]()

I dont see anything wrong with this aslong as the links in the sigs dont contain any adult or warez sites.
essentially the sigs are for your information no one elses. They are to promote YOUR business no one elses. Certainly no exchange for money otherwise like Mike says you coudl be banned completly. If you are wanting to link to a site cos you like it then fine but anything that is being seen to improve something for a monetary benefit is not allowed.
Like anything these things can be hard to moderate - the harder to moderate the more servere we can beand also we only ask that the members are sensible and responsible but its amazing how many people are just out to make a quick buck and not actually learn more or help others
Might be worth updating that section of the guidelines regarding this thread

Sarah, where exactly is this no-sig-profit rule mentioned? I haven't seen it before.Originally Posted by Sarah

in the sig FAQ - http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/faq....faq_signatures basically no referral links, no sales ads, etc etc all that basically comes up to no making money.
if people want to we can make it stricter?

Definately.Originally Posted by Sarah
Don't know how I missed it. While I can see how it fits these payed signatures (as in sponsored by another party) now, it may not be so clear to everyone.
I wonder what my sig will cost
